Astronomical Society of the Palm Beaches
About Us
We are a group of individuals dedicated to the pursuit of observational astronomy and to the education of the general public on astronomy and its related issues, such as “light pollution”.
Our monthly meetings for members and guests include informative presentations on varied topics. Past presentations have included astrophotography, the constellations, deep-sky astronomy, eclipses, telescope making and the use, history and mythology of astronomy, and many others! Our monthly meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:00 PM at the Cox Science Center and Aquarium. A zoom link is sent out for those unable to attend in person.
There are monthly observing sessions for members. At observing sessions, members bring and use a wide variety of equipment...from binoculars and small refractors to 20-inch reflectors. Knowledge and experience levels of our membership range from complete novices to individuals who have enjoyed astronomy all their lives, including educators in the field. Our membership consists of men and women of all ages and walks of life.
