Hercules Stargazers
About Us
Welcome to the Hercules Stargazers!
We invite you to attend our monthly public stargazes from April through November on selected Saturday evenings near new or last quarter moons, starting at dusk. Bring your scope or binoculars, or view through one of ours. All ages enjoy our informal, low-key, yet informed approach in assisting your experience and understanding of the night sky. Our group of friendly volunteers can help you get started in astronomy. Our site is usually clear at times of fog and low clouds around the Bay Area, and we only cancel when there is more than 40% cloud cover, high thin clouds, high winds, or worse at dusk. Gazes last until about 11:30 p.m. or later. Best of all, we're free!
Our stargazes are held in the enclosed tennis courts (on the far court, street-side of the net) behind the building at Foxboro Park in Hercules, California. Please observe the following park and event rules: No smoking, no alcohol, no flashlights or cellphone lights without a red filter; no activity in the play-gym area; pets on leash only; cell phones off, except for smart phones using an astronomy app. Vehicle parking on the street. The park is wheelchair accessible.
See you there !!
