Astronomy Activities and Resources
How does the search work?

Using the "Search for" field

Anything you enter in "Search for" looks for a match with the same words found:

  • Resource name
  • Description
  • Among the Keywords and Category entries associated with the resource.

For example, Let's say you enter

Search for:

The search will return all resources with the words "toolkit manual" as part of the name or part of the description or among the Keywords or Category entries associated with the resource.

Using the Criteria (Keywords, Venue, Educator, Audience, Category)

For the criteria, the logic is "OR" within a single criteria and "AND" between different criteria.

Example 1 (within a criteria): In Keywords, if you check "Black Holes" and "Solar System", the search will return all resources with "Black Holes" OR "Solar System" assigned as a Keyword.

Example 2 (between different criteria): In Keywords you check "Black Holes" and in Educator Type you check "Museum/Nature Center Educator", the search will return only those resources with "Black Holes" assigned as a keyword AND also have "Museum/Nature Center Educator" assigned an Educator Type.

Example 3 (Using "Search for" and multiple criteria): In "Search for" you enter "toolkit manual", in Keywords you check "Black Holes," and in Educator Type you check "Museum/Nature Center Educator". The search will return only those resources with "toolkit manual" in the name or in the description or among the Category entries AND that have "Black Holes" assigned as a keyword AND also have "Museum/Nature Center Educator" assigned an Educator Type.
