Spring Skies: The Dippers and the Diamond
As spring begins, some winter constellations like Orion the Hunter and his faithful hunting dogs, as well as the Gemini twins, linger on in the western evening sky. But new star patterns appear in the east: the Big Dipper, Leo the Lion, Bootes the Shepherd and Virgo the Maiden. We'll use the Big Dipper and the Little Dipper as guideposts to find our way around the springtime sky, and we'll also look for the four stars of an obscure star group known as Virgo's Diamond.
