Astronomy program and star party for families with young children. Tonight we will learn about the planets in our solar system and how telescopes work. Telescopes will be set up in the courtyard, weather permitting, to view the night sky.

Comments and anecdotes about the event:
Adults as well as children seemed to enjoy feeling the curvature of the lenses provided with the Glass and Mirrors tookit. Adding the magnifying lens to either light gathering lens, the children remarked that they could "see the spots on the moon"...that is, the crescent mask on the flashlight. Afterwards, the group went outdoors to the telescopes viewing Jupiter, Venus, M42.
