Planetarium Show
Three Shows will be presented for May 11,2012 by the York County Astronomical Society.
Visit www.ycas.org Planetarium for more information.
Within The York Learning Center Planetarium, one is able to observe celestial motions that, in some instances, would take years of 'real-time' observation. Additional capabilities, such as dynamic illustrations of astronomical phenomena, help to make astronomy so intriguing that one cannot help but get excited and want to learn more.
The Spitz planetarium projector below is housed under a 30 foot dome with theater seating for 60 people (The planetarium is wheelchair-accessible.) This projector can display thousands of stars in both the northern and southern hemispheres, the sun, moon, visible planets, and the Milky Way. A celestial coordinate system, ecliptic, and meridian projectors complement the main projector to allow, among other things, accurate sky measurements. Take a trip into the future or back into time.
