Come on down to the Challenger Learning Center Downtown Digital Dome Theatre and Planetarium and enjoy the free planetarium show “April Skies over Tallahassee” on Saturday, April 6th at 10 a.m.  The planetarium show is created and presented by the Tallahassee Astronomical Society.  The April sky over Tallahassee will be reviewed including prominent constellations, stars and planets.  The zodiac constellation Leo “The Lion” and non zodiac constellations Ursa Major and Minor, the big and little dippers will be presented in "Learning Constellations".   The Binocular Object-of-the-Month is the visual double star Mizar and Alcor on the handle of the Big dipper.  The "Messier objects of the month" are Bode’s Galaxy and the Cigar Galaxy, two galaxies near the cup of the big dipper.  For the “Learning Astronomy Topic” this month we will investigate  “The Annual Motion of the Sky – The Year” including the difference between the sidereal year and the tropical year.  The 11:00 a.m. regular planetarium show is “Black Holes” and is one-half off the regular price for those attending the 10:00 a.m. free planetarium show.  If you miss the free show on April 6th, “April Skies over Tallahassee” plays all month as part of the normal planetarium schedule lineup.
