Enjoy stargazing sessions at Francis Park, weather permitting. All are welcome to join us. Bring your observing gear or just stop by and take a look. Members of the St. Louis Astronomical Society share telescope viewing of the Moon, and we also view bright Venus, the Red Planet Mars, giant Jupiter, and the ringed planet Saturn when they are visible. You will even see the moons of Jupiter and Saturn! Even if no planets are in the evening sky, these events are planned around the First Quarter Moon, so we can provide views of craters, maria, mountains, and shadows on the Lunar surface. You may also get a chance to view a distant double star or star cluster.

Feel free to bring scout groups, church groups, students, family, and friends, and to share this calendar with them. All are welcome at Francis Park Stargazing events, and the event is free.

Events are canceled for clouds, inclement, or extreme weather. For safety reasons, we also cancel events when the National Weather Service issues extreme heat or cold warnings.
