The events are free and open to all ages. No registration is required. The events are very kid-friendly. We offer tokens to our young visitors and LCAS provides a special "kid-powered" telescope to give the kids a chance to aim and control a real telescope.
You can join the event at anytime and leave at any time. The best views are usually during the darkest skies but there's something to see whenever you join us.
The Moon is visible for all events, but sometimes we can share a view of a planet, too. Sometimes a bright satellite like the International Space Station will cross the sky during an event.
We encourage our visitors to check out the astronomy books inside the host library. There's a special reward for young readers who check out an astronomy book -- a free astronomy bookmark. The Star Reader program from LCAS donates bookmarks to our partner libraries. Our partners share the bookmarks with their young patrons.
This outdoor event depends on good weather, so clouds and/or rain will cause the event to be canceled or postponed to the 'rain' date of 5/6, or completely.
