Earth passes through a cloud of dust from the tail of Halley's Comet every year; this year the resulting meteor shower peaks between May 5-7.

The Moon will be a crescent this year, and will set shortly after midnight. As such you should be able to see a nice amount of meteors from a dark, clear site this year. The best time to view the shower is likely to be in the early morning before dawn. Dress warmly and look up!
