This year, the June Solstice (or the Summer Solstice for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere!) occurs on June 21, at 10:51 UTC ( 6:51 am EDT/ 3:51 am PDT)

The Sun will be in its northernmost position in the sky for the year as viewed by folks in the Northern Hemisphere, meaning that it is will also be the day with the longest amount of sunlight.

However, if you are in the Southern Hemisphere, this means that the Sun will be at its southernmost point, and the day where one would experience the least daylight.
