Astronomical Society of Harrisburg (ASH)
About Us
The Astronomical Society of Harrisburg, PA., Inc. (ASH) was formed in 1955 and offers both family and individual memberships. At over 110 members, ASH is one of the largest astronomy organizations in the state. ASH hosts several public observing nights throughout the warmer weather including the popular Cherry Springs Star Party. Please see our website or Facebook page for details. In owning and managing the Edward L Naylor Observatory located in Lewisberry, PA, ASH offers several fixed mounted telescopes for member use. In addition, an area is provided for set-up along with power, for those wishing to bring their own scope for a night of observing. The society's members share a wide variety in interests in astronomy and offer a vast array of experience in astronomical observation, astrophotography/imaging, telescope making, comet hunting, asteroid measuring, planetary sciences, and many other topics. Whether you are just starting out in astronomy, or returning to the night skies - you are sure to find friends within the society and others having a similar level of experience as yourself.
