Tallahassee Astronomical Society
About Us
The Tallahassee Astronomical Society's (TAS) mission is to share the experience of viewing the starry sky with others, reduce light pollution, and foster understanding of science through astronomy.
Welcome to TAS! We are a society of amateur astronomers eager to share our love of the night sky with others. We provide public outreach about astronomy, encourage each other in observing the night sky, and support community efforts to encourage astronomy, such as the Library Telescope program.
Click on the Events Tab or Dropdown to see a calendar with information about our upcoming activities, including our next meetings and observing events. You can also click on Join Club to submit a membership application, or Contact Club for more information.
Our club’s Coordinators are listed below.
TAS welcomes anyone interested in astronomy, regardless of your age, income, experience level, or any other conditions! If you’re breathing and are interested in the night sky, get in touch!
Our club sponsors sidewalk observing at Cascades Park during the quarter moon, and we have a dark sky observatory with a GoTo telescope for use by our club members. We meet the 3rd Monday of every month at the Challenger Learning Center (200 S. Duval Street, Tallahassee), but check the calendar to be sure before you show up!
