Sugar Creek Astronomical Society is an amateur astronomy club based in NW Arkansas. Monthly club meetings of the Sugar Creek Astronomical Society are held the 2nd Tuesday each month at the Waterway Christian Church in Bentonville, AR. Astronomy Fundamentals starts at 6:30 followed by the General Meeting at 7pm. featuring a Speaker, and constellation of the month. There will be viewing afterwards weather permitting.
SCAS Virtual Kids Club meets along side the General Meeting. Kids come to the NightSky Network and pick up their activities for the night. Then they go back to the club room and work on their activities and go out doors and view through the telescopes; For kids that cant make the meetings, the parents pick up their activities and take it home and do it with their child.
It was founded in Bella Vista, and currently serves amateur astronomers and their families from southern Missouri to Fayetteville. Sugar Creek Astronomical Society has been serving the Northwest area of Arkansas since 2001 . It services the Hobbs State park 6 times a year with programs and star parties. They also help service the star parties for George Washington Carver Monument Park, and other requests in the Bella Vista area.
The Old Timers Impromptu Observers groups meets on good nights in the Bella Vista area to enjoy some club viewing. The Old Timers are named that since they enjoy the old time visual viewing through their telescopes. The other Impromptu group that SCAS has is in Siloam Springs with the Stellar Survivor Impromtu Observers group. The Impromptu groups help SCAS span a large area from Siloam Springs, AR through Diamond, MO.
