Our History
The Greater Hazleton Area Astronomical Society was formed in 1977 by a group of amateur astronomers as a non-profit educational organization. The Society was incorporated in 1995.
The Society is a non-profit corporation organized exclusively for educational and scientific purposes within the meaning of Section 50l(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Our Purpose
The purpose of the Society is to promote the field of Astronomy as a hobby by stimulating interest and advancing knowledge to its members and the public by assisting amateur astronomers through the use of lecture programs, public outreach, astronomical observation techniques, and the use of astronomical equipment.
Joining the Greater Hazleton Area Astronomical Society
If you are interested in becoming a member, please attend one of our monthly meetings. Check the schedule for our free monthly meetings open to the public. Meetings are usually held on the second Staurday evening on each month at the Hazle Twp Commons Bldg.
