Event

This is our annual event that we are holding on Saturday, May 17, 2025. It is a split event meaning that we hold the afternoon event from 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm at Trailside Nature & Science Center in Mountainside, NJ. The evening event is from 7:30 pm - 10:30 pm at William Miller Sperry Observatory on the campus of Union College of Union NJ in Cranford, NJ. All times are Eastern Standard Time. Our theme is "Solar Max, Unlocking the Secrets of the Sun". 

In the afternoon we have children's science related activities, presentations on auroras, the Sun and photosynthesis, science demonstaritons on gravity, neutrinos, light spectrrum a Moon Mission Marble game and making simple spectrographs. And a high school robotics team is coming in to demonstrate robots that they have delevoped. We also have meteroites and geology presentations and displays. In adition we have safe solar observing and the solar systm walk.

In the evening we have a presentation about the Sun and observing through our 2 large telscopes. We also have members bring their own telescopes for observing with the public.

The event is free and there's free parking.

William Miller Sperry Observatory is located on the campus of Union College of Union County, NJ at 1033 

Springfield Ave., Cranford, NJ 07016. 

The event is free and there is plenty of free parking at both locations.
