About Us
“The Local Group” is named for the cluster of approximately 30 nearby galaxies, of which our Milky Way Galaxy is a member. Our purpose is to bring together and share knowledge with people who enjoy astronomy. We meet regularly for night sky observing sessions. These “star parties” are held at various locations away from city lights. It is not necessary to own a telescope to attend, as members who have telescopes enjoy sharing their telescopic views with others.
