Create craters on models of the Moon and Earth in this fun and messy outreach activity (important note: you may want to do this outdoors)!

Investigate the properties of Earth that hide past cratering events, such as  movement of the crust, erosion, water, and a protective atmosphere, and compare the worn down craters still found on Earth with the sharp and well-defined craters visible on the Moon.

This is a great activity to do outside, or inside with the help of a protective tarp;  this activity can get a bit messy, much like a real cratering event!
