Credit: Where are the Planets Field Activity

We expanded on the "Where are the Planets" activity by making constellations and planet signs, the activity was on a field. We used a piece of cardboard with Earth in the middle with Spock on top, with W and E to represent the rulers to see when planets rise, and about seasons, then the 26,000 year cycle precession with Vega as our future North Star, with Orion in the Summer, and why the ecliptic is higher in the Northern Hemisphere in the Winter. And demonstrated the difficulty with a roundtrip mars visit. We then observed Jupiter, Saturn, the Crescent Moon, M13, M57, M31, and everyone was amazed at the views. The audience was very curious and continued to ask us questions throughout the evening.
