Comments and anecdotes about the event:
We took a hiatus from public outreach during the summer months due to poor weather and poor viewing conditions this time of year. We intended to start back up at both Brittlebank Park and Johns Island County Park in September but bad weather forced the cancellation of each weekly and monthly event. Last night we finally had our first successful session in months. Eight members were at the park, with 4 telescopes set up. About 25 eager visitors stopped by and were treated to a great pass of the ISS and a number of other passing satellites. Then we showed Venus setting early in the west, Saturn with her rings barely visible, a number of nice double stars, including Albireo, and a couple of faint clusters. We also pointed out a number of visible constellations and the Summer Triangle. The sky was clear throughout the night and then clouds rolled in and covered the sky just as everyone was leaving.
