Comments and anecdotes about the event:
This was not a night for anyone with an old-school scope (intermittent clouds/haze, full moon), but youth, enthusiasm and GoTo capability carried the day. Missed Venus and Mercury in the murk; spotted Saturn in 15x70's but could not find it in any of the scopes. Moondogs finally confirmed after closing. (I always say, if it's too cloudy for astronomy, it's time for atmospheric optics.)
