Delmar Loop Planet Party on Friday, April 23, in honor of Global Astronomy Month. The event will start at 7 p.m.with a brief astronomy discussion at the University City Public Library, and then move outside to observe the moon and planets (weather permitting) with telescopes provided by members of the St. Louis Astronomical Society. The event will also include guided tours of the Delmar Loop Planet Walk, a walk able model of the solar system, built at a 1:5 billion scale. Installed and dedicated in November 2009, the Planet Walk is a permanent outdoor attraction, situated between the Moonrise Hotel and Cicero's Restaurant. It is accessible 24 hours a day, every day. Its purpose is to provide an appreciation of the immense distances between the planets, and to stimulate an interest in space and science.
