The Delaware Valley Amateur Astronomers is hosting a "Public Star Party," at Valley Forge National Historical Park.
*Admission and parking are free.
Members of the DVAA will set up telescopes on the Model Airplane Field of Valley Forge Park and explain objects in the night sky, including the Moon, Saturn, globular clusters, and other interesting celestial objects.
If you have a telescope with problems, bring it. We have experts who can help adjust and explain optics.
Directions- Go to the PA Route 23 exit off of Route 422.
- Follow PA 23 around park.
- Make a left turn at traffic light onto PA 252
- Follow PA 252 until you see a large open field on your right
- Look for a dirt/stone road on right (there will be a Star Party sign).
- Turn right onto this road, and follow it back until you see parked cars.
- Look for telescopes set up on grass. Park on dirt/stone road only.
From King of PrussiaTake US 202 south, exit at Devon onto PA 252 north. This intersection is adjacent to the Gateway Shopping Center. Take Rt. 252 North exactly one mile. Just after you go over the PA Turnpike, look for a brown and white "Valley Forge National Historical Park" sign, then turn LEFT onto a gravel road. Follow this around to the observing field on your right. From West ChesterTake Rt. 202 north to the Chesterbrook exit and follow Rt. 252 north (parallel to Rt. 202) until it goes left under Rt. 202. NOTE: There's no left turn at the Devon exit from northbound 202. Take Rt. 252 North exactly one mile. Just after you go over the PA Turnpike, look for a brown and white "Valley Forge National Historical Park" sign, then turn LEFT onto a gravel road. Follow this around to the observing field on your right. From PA Rt. 23Take Route 23 to Route 252 SOUTH. Rt. 252 begins at this spot. There is a light at the intersection, which is located near the Western end of Valley Forge National Historical Park. Follow Rt. 252 South for 1.7 miles (pass by a covered bridge on your right - do not go thru covered bridge). Rt. 252 South takes several turns - left at the covered bridge and right up ahead past the horse farm. After 1.7 miles on Rt. 252 turn right onto an unpaved road just inside the VF Park border (at Southern end of park). Look for telescopes set up on the grass. Park on the dirt/gravel road only, not on the grass. |
