Everyone is invited to join us at our observatory for the opportunity to look through different types of telescopes and enjoy a variety of celestial objects. There will be members available to provide guidance from basic constellation spotting to all aspects of the universe. Our observatory features a 14 inch telescope and a classroom. We also have about one acre of open ground for setting up your own equipment. Families are welcome but children MUST be supervised. For the safety and enjoyment of everyone, please review Star Party Etiquette
NOTE: Observing Events are subject to cancellation for cloudy or severe weather.  See Website
The site is ONLY ON SCHDULED EVENT NIGHTS.   If you would like to visit at other times, please contact our  Group Director.   Due to our remote location it is not advised for observers to go alone.

Information for Visitors:
Friday, May 23rd, is the Astronomy Club of Tulsa's Public Observing night for May (weather permitting- check this page before driving out; we will typically post by 5:30 if canceled)! Come out and see planets, nebulae, the Moon, star clusters, and more up close and personal! This event is free for members and non-members can attend for a donation of as little as $2. Children are welcome but must be supervised and must stay on observatory grounds. Those wanting to bring groups of 10+ need to make separate arrangements through our website, (www.astrotulsa.com).

**SEE BOTTOM FOR DIRECTIONS**

Please bring a jacket and wear closed toed shoes! It gets chilly up on the hill and in the dome. Closed toed shoes are suggested since the observatory is out in the country- We spray and maintain the grounds, but there are still bugs and the occasional spider, scorpion, or other wild critter (jeans or other long pants are also a good idea). We are not responsible for any injuries and don't want anyone to get hurt!

We have running water for the restroom but do not recommend drinking it. We will have snacks and drinks available for a donation. Of course, you can bring your own telescope or just enjoy sharing the view from some of the members' scopes.

Gates open about 7:30- Sunset at 8:30 pm. Volunteers typically arrive around 7:30pm and stay until midnight, sometimes later when the sky is especially clear.

Please use caution when entering the observing grounds. For safety, DO NOT TURN OFF YOUR HEADLIGHTS but please use low beams. Please park in the Visitor's Parking lot next to the AT&T building.

Note: GPS & Google maps DO NOT give accurate directions! Use Printable Map link below. The observatory and grounds are closed and secured unless we have a scheduled event. Approximately 45 minute drive from Tulsa: --> Go South on Hwy 75 past Glenpool. Continue South after the Glenpool traffic light for 10 more miles. Just after the Mounds exits look for 241st. Turn west/right on 241st Street.(the Duck Creek Casino will be on the left while you turn right). Stay on 241st which will lead you to the Observatory. Just after the first stop sign, cross over the old Hwy 75, the road will turn to gravel/dirt. Continue for another 3.5 miles and around a curve and up a hill. At the top of that hill the road turns to pavement again. One more mile and you will see a white gate that is open when the observatory is open. If the gate is open, go on up the hill. Visitor parking is in the lot near the building with a large tower.
