The Geminid meteor shower will peak the night of December 13-14th. The best time for observing meteors will be after midnight . This year a waning crescent moon in the early morning will not interfere much with observing. In fact, if you can find a dark sky and have clear skies, you'll be treated to one of the best meteor showers of the year!

If you want to try to spot some meteors, bundle up, as it's getting chilly for most folks in the Northern Hemisphere! Get to a dark spot, get comfortable, bring extra blankets to stay warm, and let your eyes adjust to the dark sky. A cozy lounge chair makes for a great seat, as does simply lying on your back on a blanket, eyes scanning the whole sky.
