Mars in Science Fiction - by Steve Bandel.  The perception of the Angry Red Planet in science fiction has changed dramatically over the years as our knowledge of Mars has improved.   Through orbiter surveys and the landing of spacecraft on the surface of the planet, we have increased our scientific knowledge dramatically, and so science fiction has had to adapt to all the new information, in order to be more relevant.
