Event Report

Comments and anecdotes about the event:
This was another fine presentation from Dr. Fred Adams. This time he spoke about the formation of Jupiter and other giant planets. Some of the most interesting items were that the best planet forming region in any solar systems is at the ice line. In our system that is Jupiter's orbit. Gas giants also start out as super Earths, at which point they can accumulate gas at a rapid pace, but they only have a few million years before there is not enough gas left in the solar systems' disk to accumulate. We had 32 in-person attendees, and 12 via Zoom.
