Event Report

Comments and anecdotes about the event:
In the afternoon at Trailside Nature & Science Center, located in Mountainside, NJ, over 400 visitors, which included adults and children, attended the activities and presentations scheduled. Sixty easy to make spectroscopes were made by middle and high school attendees along with parents. There were 3 presentations given related to the Sun. At one of the presentations on auroras there was a scout group that attended. They asked several questions and afterwards were excited to attend a program in the future to be given by Amateur Astronomers, Inc. to obtain scout astronomy badges. Also one of the scheduled activities was given by the Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School robotics team. Both he high school members and the attendees were thoroughly enjoying the demonstrations relating to stars and the Sun that the team was giving. In the evening at Sperry Observatory in Cranford, NJ around 100 people, that included children and adults, attended. Although only Mars was visible for a few minutes due to cloudy weather overall the evening was successful. A presentation "Our Star, the Sun" was given and enjoyed by all.
