Comments and anecdotes about the event:
This event has been designated as our annual summer doldrums observing event. There aren't many clear evening skies in Florida during the summer so our club decided to keep the momentum going with a morning summer solar observing event. As a bonus we had the sun in both H Alpha and White light, a morning crescent Moon, and a daytime Venus. This particular Saturday was hand picked for precisely these reasons. The community loves it!!! We feel this is a very unique astronomy club offering and one that should be so noted by the NASA Night Sky Network. Our fabulous partnership with Manatee County helps to make all of this possible.
