Event Report

Comments and anecdotes about the event:
Shared with visitors the 5 day old Moon. Brought along a small f/4 4.5" tabletop telescope so folks could try for themselves to point the telescope at the Moon then later at Saturn. I also set up my C8 so the visitors could see the difference between the two. We had many discussions about the Moon's craters, Apollo missions, terminator, and phases. Demonstrated with a 3D printed Apollo 15 landing site at Hadley Rille, and how the sunlight's low angle changes how the features look more dramatic. The visitors were perplexed to know that countries south of the equator see the Moon upside down from our perspective here in North America. Unfortunately no one brought a telescope. It was a nice night for a small outreach event.
