It's that time of year again when we partner with Ten Acre Observatory , Pioneer Library System , TSET Healthy Living Program serving McClain County , and Community Alliance of Resources for Everyone - CARE to bring you a night to remember! OEC Fiber, Walmart Purcell and City of Purcell, Oklahoma are sponsoring this amazing annual community event. We'll have telescopes out for night sky viewing, moon observation, and star gazing. There will be pizza from Eagle One Pizza, the world's best buttered popcorn from Pride Popcorn, and TSET of McClain County is bringing water and fruit to share - all while supplies last! Pioneer Library of Purcell and Purcell Parks will have crafts to make, Nick from Ten Acre Observatory will teach us about constellations, and Mad Science will have Science Programming for all to enjoy.

Bring your lawn chairs, jackets, and blankets to sit on the front lawn at Purcell Multipurpose Center under the stars to enjoy this year's movie, Moana! Bring your family, a date, friends, or come alone - all are welcome and we can't wait to see you!

Event Report

Comments and anecdotes about the event:
The Purcell Parks and Recreation annual Moon and Movie Party was originally scheduled for October 25. In light of cloudy conditions, the event was rescheduled for November 1, which, unfortunately, was also the date the city had trick-or-treating, driving down attendance. With the weather being cool, the movie was screened indoors. The inflatable movie screen barely fit inside the Multipurpose Center's gym. The Odyssey Astronomy Club and Ten-Acre Observatory treated attendees to views of Saturn and the Moon through 13- and 12-inch telescopes. The rings of Saturn were nearly edge on. All of the people who looked through the telescopes marveled at the views of the gibbous Moon and Saturn.
