Event Report

Comments and anecdotes about the event:
We had a wonderful day for the annual Johns Island County Park Family Camp Jam outreach. Cale and I did some afternoon solar observing and saw some beautiful prominences and Sun surface texture with Cale’s Coronado H-alpha scope. I showed the sunspots with a solar filter on my Celestron. As usual, the kids loved the solar system setup. We had 25 early visitors. The evening outreach program was well attended by 6 members with 3 OTA scopes, 2 EAA scopes and 2 binocular setups. Jupiter dominated the sky as well the Orion Nebula, the Pleiades, the Beehive Cluster and an assortment of Dark Sky Objects including the Leo Triplet, which was a first for our outreach. We were busy all night with 125 visitors and long lines at each station. There were lots and lots of kids in attendance.
