International Observe the Moon Night occurs annually to unite people across the globe in a celebration of lunar observation, science and exploration.

Amateur Observors' Society will be at Jones Beach Energy and Nature Center with telescopes to share lunar viewing with the public. We will be joined by thr Girl Scouts of Nassau County for this special viewing event.

Comments and anecdotes about the event:
Around 250 Nassau County Girl Scouts along with 100 parents and chaperones joined AOS in celebrating International Observe the Moon Night. The Girl Scouts participated in an art project inside the Jones Beach Energy and Nature Center then joined AOS members outside on the boardwalk to observe the moon through telescopes and binoculars. We were also able to observe Saturn and 2-3 of her moons as well as Neptune.
