Event Report

Comments and anecdotes about the event:
We met inside for a 45-minute long discussion of the real science and astronomy discussed in both the movie and film, Contact, by Carl Sagan. Following the discussion, as well as a Q&A period, we adjourned to the library patio for an observing session. The clouds slowly cleared, allowing our astronomers to share Albireo's dual hues and view of Saturn's rings!

There is nothing quite like a classic Cassegrain reflector to view Albireo! Club member Steve B. shares views of a double star from between the clouds with library patrons at Greenbrier Library's Science in Science Fiction after-party! Photo by J. Mitchell
