Event

FAS and Winston-Salem State University will host a public observation for International Observe the Moon Night on Saturday, October 4 from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM.

WSSU will open Fountain Observatory to showcase their recently installed 17-inch Planewave telescope. There will be tours of the observatory regardless of weather and demonstrations of the telescope, weather permitting. The observatory is on the roof of Hill Hall. There is a limit of 25 people on the roof at one time, and attendees will need to sign a waiver to go on the roof.

Parking for the event is in parking lot E at the corner of Cromartie Street and Martin Luther King Junior Drive. FAS will have telescopes on the ground in parking lot E, weather permitting, for anyone who does not want to go up to the observatory. See our website for walking directions from parking lot E to Hill Hall.

Our webpage https://www.fas37.org/wp/wssu-public-observation-saturday-october-4/ and the FAS Facebook page will be updated on the morning of this event with weather information. Tours of the Fountain Observatory will take place rain or shine.
