Sky Search in the Goodwin State Forest

October 3 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Scour the night skies with our guest astronomers!  The event will be co-facilitated by several local amateur astronomers led by Alan Sheiness, who hosts public sessions monthly in nearby Lyme in association with Lyme Land Trust. All the astronomers bring a deep passion for sharing the night sky through their telescopes.

The Moon will be prominent that evening, so after a brief visual tour of the night sky, we will zoom in on the Moon. We will then observe various “deep sky objects” (DSOs), targets that lie well beyond our solar system. If conditions permit, we will also observe Saturn rising in the eastern sky.

Event Report

Comments and anecdotes about the event:
Surprisingly, it was all adults! They loved the event. The Connecticut Governor's office had done a press release on the event since it was held at a state park. Beautiful location. Everyone was very appreciative.
