This year, the June Solstice occurs on June 20. This is also known as the Summer Solstice for those in the Northern Hemisphere, and the Winter Solstice for folks in the Southern Hemisphere.

The Sun will be in its northernmost position in the sky for the year as viewed by folks in the Northern Hemisphere, meaning that it is will also be the day with the longest amount of sunlight.

However, if you are in the Southern Hemisphere, this means that the Sun will be at its southernmost point, and the day where one would experience the shortest daylight.
