Event

Guest Speaker Dr. Michael Mumma, Planetary Scientist at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, will present "The Interstellar Comet 3I ATLAS and its Implications for Earth". Astronomers discovered the third interstellar comet known to man on July 1, 2025. The James Webb and SPHEREx space telescopes have observed the comet through its passage around the Sun and now, on its way out of our solar sysytem, which enabled the first in-depth comparison of a comet from another stellar system with comets from our own system.
