Mars' closest approach to Earth for 2020 occurs on October 6! Mars will appear much brighter than usual, and views through telescopes will show much greater detail than usual. This means that, barring a giant dust storm, that  observers may be treated to great views of Mars through their telescopes! Even small scopes may be able to reveal details of the Red Planet that are usually undetectable, and a pair of humble of binoculars may resolve Mars as a distinct disc, rather than a point of light.

You can find more information on NASA's Mars Close Approach website. Find an observing event near you or online on our event page. EarthSky has a great guide to observing Mars as well. You can also download a customizable handout showing the positions of the planets in our solar system here. https://nightsky.jpl.nasa.gov/download-view.cfm?Doc_ID=243
