The Symphony in the Flint Hills is celebrating their 20th year anniversary signature event on the prairie, highlighting music, art, and the ecology of the Flint Hills. The Kansas Astronomical Observers has been invited as an encore event for the last 19 years.

Our encore mission is to educate the public with astronomy science outreach during the day leading up to the concert, then with views through our telescopes at celestial objects after the concert.

Instructions for the Public:

All-Day Activities

The gates for the Signature Event open at 1 p.m. and feature a full day of festivities including:

  • Inspirational talks and presentations
  • Guided prairie walks
  • Covered wagon rides
  • Stories by local musicians and poets
  • Stargazing
  • Dancing

It is sad to announce this will be their final event, and the Kansas Astronomical Observers are proud to have supported them throughout these years.

Tickets go on sale the first Saturday in March starting at 10 AM. Visit their website to purchase tickets at Symphony in the Flint Hills.

The signature event enjoys offerings from Cox Brothers BBQ for lunch and dinner.

Location is 5 miles east of Strong City and 4 miles north off of Highway 50. More detail to come.
