Earth passes through a cloud of dust from the tail of Halley's Comet every year; this year the resulting meteor shower is predicted to peak in the early hours of the dawn on the mornings of May 5-6. However, you will still see a nice amount of meteors from this stream in the days before and after the peak.

Thankfully the Moon's light will not interfere with the shower this year, and so this may be one of the best meteor showers of 2019. Get to a dark spot, get comfortable, bring extra blankets to stay warm, and let your eyes adjust to the dark sky. A cozy lounge chair makes for a great seat, as does simply lying on your back on a blanket, eyes scanning the whole sky.
