Event

The Amateur Astronomers Association holds observing sessions in the Bronx when the first quarter moon is in the evening sky.  If the first quarter moon falls on a Monday, we will observe the following day, Tuesday.  (For information about the Moon’s phases, please click here.)

We meet on the northwest corner of West 235th Street and Johnson Avenue.  This location is easily accessible via the Bx10 and Bx20 buses.  If traveling by subway, take the No. 1 train to West 231st Street and transfer to the bus.  Get off the bus and walk two blocks east to Johnson Avenue.

Observing begins one-half hour after sunset.  We encourage anyone wishing to bring a telescope or binoculars to do so.  If you’d like to participate, please contact John Benfatti ahead of time and let him know you’ll  be coming.
