Dan Llewellyn (the great Jupiter imager) is going to do a talk at AH Stephens park on Sat Oct 19th. The state park is located in Crawfordville, GA just a few miles from DAV.
From Dan: The last one was cancelled for a few reasons, weather and they rented the facility out. Round 2 is this Saturday the 19th, from 7-9 pm on the field next to the pavilion (or maybe inside).
We "might" get to use the building, however they actually wanted me to give my presentation outside on or near the field like they do when they screen the polar express movie near Christmas. I am NOT happy about that, but they have run ads in the Washington paper and put flyers out everywhere, so I will do what is necessary.
Two part talk:
1) Recently released Apollo mission photos, some re-processed by me.
2) Images taken at Deerlick by me, so the general public can see why there is an astro village out here.
Seats - Unknown....advise bringing some lightweight fold ups like you were going to see the fireworks on July 4th.
Weather - Clear! Forecast has clouds Saturday afternoon, but dissipating by 5-6pm and very clear the rest of the night. Don't let the clouds scare ya!
Moon - The almost full moon rises at 8:21pm. We should have plenty of darkness for viewing, Nautical twilight starts at 7:15pm, and even if the moon eeks up, the event is over at 9, we will probably still be ok for deep sky.
Ed will have an 6 inch Dob for deep sky and I will have a tracking refractor for Saturn.
Come out, have fun !!
Dan Llewellyn
