Event

We will be holding our September meeting for members and guests starting at 1:15 PM in Berliner Hall of Hofstra University, 1st floor, California Avenue (just south of Hempstead Turnpike). Parking is in the lot on Huntington Place across the side street.  AOS meetings include observing reports and guest speaker talks on astronomy topics and are held once a month.

This will be a hybrid meeting via WebEx. Non-members please contact our Secretary for an invitation to attend at AOSSecretary@aosny.org.

Our speaker this month is Hap Griffin who will talk about "Beginnings in Amateur Radio Astronomy; Doing Real Science on a Budget".  Hap's lifelong passion is amateur astronomy. His primary interest is in astronomical photography, and he has had photographs published in several books on DSLR imaging. Hap  has run a sideline business, Imaginginfinity, where he modifies Canon and Nikon DSLRs for astrophotography and has made modifications to over 3,500 cameras since 2003 along with making specialty cables for astrophotography. He has also done alot of up-close photography at the Kennedy Space Center, most recently for Sky and Telescope Magazine.
