Event Report

Comments and anecdotes about the event:
Professor Michael Edmunds headed up the Antikythora Mechanism Research Project, an international collaboration investigating the extraordinary astronomical machine eating from around 200 BC, discovered by sponge divers over a century ago, off the Greek island of Antikythora. Professor Edmunds gave a fascinating talk on how what is described as the oldest analog computer was used to predict astronomical positions and eclipses decades in advance.
