Hooray!!!

Thank you for your telescope expertise and support for our May the Forest be with You event on May, 3rd 2025! This program is a part of Remake Learning Days, an innovative learning festival for families and youth. The program runs from 5:00pm-9:30pm and when full we will have about 300 attendees.

"May the Forest be with You" is an exciting outdoor/indoor event for families that combines the wonder of nature and space science with the magic of Star Wars®. You and your family will attend a Jedi academy and explore outer space in our state-of-the-art planetarium. Meet your favorite Star Wars® characters and immerse yourself in a faraway galaxy. Weather permitting, all sessions will have telescope viewing. This event is perfect for families with children ages 5-15. Costumes and cosplay are welcome and encouraged! In the event of inclement weather, program elements may be moved indoors. Every person attending must register and pay, including adults. Minimum one paid adult chaperone per five paid youth for troops and youth groups. The fee is non-refundable. Advance registration is required. Sessions start every 20 minutes. The event has 10 sessions, each starting every 20 minutes. A group of about 30 individuals each session will travel around for three guided stations before ending at our Galactic Expo. Our galactic expo is an area where folks can explore on their own, meteorites, make a droid, check out rockets, and more!

Last year we had telescope observing for night time and we are interested in adding solar observing.  Last year we had about 4 ASKC members attend and they recommended solar observing due to the sunset time. ASKC members kicked off our galactic expo!

Feel free if you would like to have a table indoors (covering whatever STEM topic you like) we would love that! That’s if you have enough volunteers interested! If not we would happily take just telescopic observing!
