Located on the roof of Royall Hall, the Warkoczewski Observatory — affectionately called the Warko (pronounced “Varko”) — is open on most clear Friday evenings, starting at dusk, from May 1 through October 31.
Admission is free.
The largest telescope is a 16 3/8-inch Newtonian reflector hand-made by Stan Warkoczewski and operated by the Astronomical Society of Kansas City (ASKC)

Location Details

Warko Observatory
Located atop Royall Hall on the UMKC campus the Warko Observatory is open most clear nights from May 1 through Oct 31 beginning at dusk. Parking is available in the parking garage on the southest corner of Rockhill and 52nd streets, just across 52nd street from Royall Hall. Entry to the Observatory is up the stairway just inside the double doors of Royall Hall.
