Event

Girl Scout Troop 24027 in Palm Beach County worked on Astronomy badges aided by 5 members of the Astronomical Society of the Palm Beaches.  The troop consists of girls ages 7-11. The younger girls worked on their Brownie Space Science Adventurer badge and the older girls worked on their Junior Space Science Investigator badge.  Two ASPB club members set up scopes outside the meeting place and 3 members worked on the requirement indoors. We followed the Girl Scout requirements using Night Sky Network resource materials.

Event Report

Comments and anecdotes about the event:
Sky conditions were very challenging. The clouds parted enough at 6:30 so the girls could see the crescent moon, Venus, Saturn, Cassiopeia and Albireo. The two age groups completed their respective badge requirements. When asked if they enjoyed the evening they reported it was the "best ever"
