Bartlesville Astronomical Society Monthly Meeting
This month's presentation is on "Exploring the Universe: What we know and don't know about dark matter", given by Dr. Liliya Williams, Professor, Minnesota Institute for Astrophysics! Astrophysics, the study of the Universe, has made tremendous progress in the last decades. One of the more surprising and puzzling findings is that most of the mass in our Universe is dark matter, with the ordinary matter (the periodic table of elements) being outnumbered by dark matter by approximately a factor of 5. Dr. Williams will describe some of the evidence that convinces scientists that dark matter exists and is abundant. She will also describe its main properties, and talk about the many things we still don't understand about dark matter, and future research directions.
Bartlesville Astronomical Society meetings feature presentations on a variety of astronomy and space science topics. Our meetings are open to the public and guests are always welcome.
Setup/social time begins at 6:30 pm and the meeting starts at 7:00 pm. We also host the meeting on Zoom. in addition to in-person. Club members are sent the Zoom link. If you aren't a Club member and would like to have the Zoom link sent to you, please email bvilleastro@gmail.com.
