Event Report

Comments and anecdotes about the event:
After a rainy Friday and cloudy Saturday morning, the Navy campout was blessed with mostly clear skies and pleasant temperatures. Navy families enjoyed seeing Saturn, Jupiter, and the Moon. Though the Moon was almost Full, several times it was obscured by a cloud, making it easier to see Saturn and Jupiter. Six telescopes were manned by five BBAA members: Tom Epps, Shawn Loescher, Bob Beuerlein, Jeff Thornton, and George Reynolds. George gave several "tours" of the stars and constellations with his green laser pointer. Bob showed visitors double star Albireo and the Andromeda Galaxy. George showed Mizar and Alcor. Campers and staff alike were awed by Saturn and its rings.
